DESIGN IOT SMART CONTROLLER FOR SOLAR EQUIPMENT

CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS
A Solar Solution Client wanted to test out the feasibility of a IoT Controlled Solar Equipment System. We were approached to deliver such a system by using their Solar Equipment which were run by Solar Batteries. The client wanted to be able to control the equipment from anywhere in the world, from a web page. The web page should be able to set an ON-Time for the equipment as well. It was also expected that the status of the equipment be visible at all times. The controller should be able to connect to a new WiFi if required at any time using Bluetooth/BLE. The client also wanted programmability for later to allow him to scale the application as per his requirements.
KEY CHALLENGES
Building a reliable hardware system which consumes less power was a challenge as if the controller consumes more power the equipment could significantly reduce. A cloud based web-page was to be supplemented with a graphical layout for easy programming. The system had to automatically reconnect to the WiFi incase of connectivity failure. Also the remote user should be able to recognize that the device is offline and cannot be reached. The final price should be kept low.
VISO SOLUTION
VISO proposed an ESP32 based IoT Controller. The cloud webpage was developed using node-red. This allowed the client to further program the application. Modern IoT technologies like MQTT were used for reliable status and connectivity communication. Repeated full cycle testing was carried out to ensure no break in the optimal performance of the system. A reliable cloud service partner was used for hosting the cloud and load testing was carried out. The required quantity was delivered to client as per the set deadline and the system was tested and operated outside India successfully.
